The Richland Northeast varsity girls’ volleyball team came back after losing a close first set to defeat Chapin 3-1 in their region opening match. The Eagles won the first set by a score of 25-22. Northeast won the next three sets with scores of 25-18, 25-21, 25-14 respectively. The team was led by senior Shayla Phillips who had 13 kills, 2 aces, 10 block shots, and 13 digs. Junior Taylor Macon and Freshman Logan McMullin made big runs to finish the game. Northeast is 2-3 for the season (1-0 in the conference). The Lady Cavs will take on the Dreher High School Blue Devils on Tuesday, September 16 at home in another region match. The JV match begins at 5:30 pm followed by the varsity at approximately 7:00 pm.
